CNA Training Program

Teach where students test.

Career Academy hires Tennessee-licensed RNs and LPNs to teach CNA students at our state-approved school in Memphis. Small cohorts, day or evening sections, and a clinical site on premises.

Why teach at Career Academy

A Memphis CNA school since 2004, run by working clinicians. Teaching here is teaching, not paperwork.

Small classes

Cohorts are capped so instructors can actually coach skills, not just lecture. You'll know every student's name and where they need help.

Day or evening sections

Pick the schedule that fits your life. Day classes run Mon–Fri 8:30 AM–2:30 PM (4 weeks). Evening classes run Mon–Fri 5:00–9:00 PM (6 weeks).

Clinical site on premises

Career Academy is a registered Tennessee state exam testing site. Students train, do skills, and test — all in the same building on Poplar Avenue.

Frequently asked

What credentials do I need to teach CNA classes in Tennessee?
You need a current Tennessee RN or LPN license to teach CNA classes in Tennessee. The state board of nursing sets this requirement and it has no exceptions. Prior teaching experience is welcome but not required — most of our instructors come from bedside nursing.
Do you hire part-time CNA instructors?
Yes. Career Academy hires both full-time and part-time CNA instructors. Many of our part-time instructors keep a clinical role at a Memphis hospital or nursing home and teach one cohort at a time — day or evening, your choice.
What is the schedule like for a CNA instructor?
Instructors lead one cohort at a time on a fixed schedule. Day cohorts run Monday–Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM and complete in 4 weeks. Evening cohorts run Monday–Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and complete in 6 weeks. New cohorts start every month.
Where is Career Academy located?
Career Academy is at 3355 Poplar Avenue, Suite 100G, Memphis, TN 38111. The school sits between East Memphis and Midtown, with parking on site. Classroom, skills lab, and state exam testing all happen at this address.
How long does the application process take?
Most candidates hear back within 5 business days of applying. We review your TN nursing license, recent clinical experience, and availability for upcoming cohort start dates, then schedule a short call. Once an offer is accepted, onboarding takes about a week.
